Adventure in a camper van: What could be better than cooking, showering, and having running water right in the middle of nature? If you're building your own van, the water supply in your camper is one of the most important topics. Water tanks, a water pump, and water hoses ensure you always have fresh water, making you independent of campsites and public water sources. At MobyVan, we not only offer well-designed water installations and compact modules, but we can also install sinks, outdoor showers, and fresh and grey water canisters upon request. Read on to learn everything you need for your camper van's water supply.

Camper Water Supply: Everything You Need

Water in a motorhome: The necessary products

Whether washing hands, cooking, or doing dishes: If you want running water in your camper, you need the right equipment. First, the water must somehow be stored in the van. Water canisters for fresh and grey water are suitable for this. Depending on your consumption, you can choose different sizes. The larger the tank, the less often you have to refill it. A pressure water pump or submersible pump generates the necessary pressure to get the water flowing. To use the water in the camper, a faucet and a sink are essential. With them, you can use running water directly in the vehicle for washing up, brushing your teeth, and your other needs while camping. For a very special luxury, an outdoor shower on the van is a great option. With our outdoor showers, you can stay anywhere and enjoy independence. Step-by-step to a reliable water system

Once you have all the products you need for your camper's water supply, the individual components must be installed. First, you should consider the location of the water canisters. For a flexible water system, the space under the kitchen unit is particularly popular. This way, the fresh water tank and the waste water tank can be easily connected to the tap and sink. The submersible pump is placed directly into the water tank to pump fresh water through the hose to the tap. For the sink, we always recommend opting for a camping sink, as ordinary sinks take up too much space in a camper. If you have chosen our sink, you can install it in your furniture unit either from above (topmount) or from below (undermount). You can connect the faucet directly to the sink; always refer to the product's operating instructions. Afterward, the canisters must be connected to the tap and drain via hoses. If the water installation is too complicated for you, we at MobyVan would be happy to do the work for you. Contact us and we will create a customized offer.

Frequently Asked Questions

No matter what camper you drive, the water supply always works similarly. Water is stored in a fresh water tank, from which it is pumped to the tap. Through the sink's drain, it is then directed into the greywater canister. In caravans with a shower, an additional hose pumps water into the showerhead.

That depends entirely on the number of people, the use, and what the water is used for. If you don't have a shower in your vehicle and live frugally, you can manage with about 10-15 liters per day by yourself. For showering, you need to add at least 10 liters per person.

Depending on where you fill your water tank, you may also be able to drink the water. In this country, this is usually not a problem, but abroad you should be careful and inquire locally. Always make sure to thoroughly clean the water canisters to prevent dirt from accumulating in them.
