Cooking, washing up, showering – experience the difference

Every time you want to fill a pot with water, wash a piece of fruit, or make coffee, do you have to walk a hundred meters to the taps? This can be quickly remedied with running water in your camper. What sounds complicated at first is actually quite simple: you need 2 water canisters – one for fresh water and one for wastewater, a submersible or pressure water pump, hoses, and a sink. You don't even need much space for this. The water canisters can often be conveniently stored under the kitchenette so you can easily connect them to the sink. You can install the sink in your furniture unit. One hose for fresh water must be connected to the faucet, the second to the sink drain so that the wastewater can flow into the wastewater tank. Afterwards, it is drained through the sink into the grey water tank, which you must empty regularly. How long can you leave fresh water in the RV's water tanks?

It depends on whether you want to drink the water or merely use it for washing. Drinking water generally lasts a maximum of 1 week in the tank – provided it comes from a safe source. However, at high temperatures or with a lot of light, its shelf life can be shortened. The fresh water tank should also be cleaned at regular intervals. If you only use the water for handwashing and washing dishes, you can use it for about 1 month.

How do you get a water system into a camper?
