The Electrical Box as the Heart of Your Camper's Electrical System

MobyVan developed the electric box itself, specifically for the VW T5, T6, and T6.1. A base plate houses a fuse box with an RCD, a CEE shore power connection, a Victron Blue Smart charger, and a Votronic power distributor. You connect the battery separately and choose the capacity that suits your travel habits. The box is mounted to the left lower side wall using screws or rivets. You can get it with all components pre-installed or as an empty box if you want to install your own parts. The cable lengths are suitable for short and long wheelbases, so nothing needs to be extended or shortened. At the campsite, you charge the battery via the shore power connection and simultaneously use a 230V Schuko socket in the interior.

Solar, Lighting, and Extensions for your Electrical Kit

If you need electricity away from the campsite, supplement the power box with a solar panel. In our shop, you'll find semi-flexible modules from Offgridtec and Wattstunde with 120 to 150 watts of power. The Victron Smartsolar MPPT charge controller manages and regulates the charging process. On the roof, a dedicated MobyVan solar mount holds the modules in position on VW T5 to T6.1 vehicles. The MobyOne light bar and individual LED recessed spotlights illuminate the interior, dimmable via touch sensors. For winter use, we have auxiliary heaters from Autoterm and Eberspächer in our shop, which run on the 12V system.

Frequently Asked Questions

A complete camper electrical kit includes a central power distribution unit, a battery, a shore power charger, and, depending on your needs, a solar panel with a charge controller. With MobyVan, the electrical box forms the central unit, which you supplement with a battery, solar, and lights.

That depends on how you travel. At campsites with power hook-ups, shore power is sufficient. If you want to free camp, you'll need solar to recharge the battery during the day. A 120 to 150 watt module is enough for lights, a refrigerator, and USB devices.

The electric box works on the plug-and-play principle. The components are pre-installed on the base plate and the cable lengths are matched to the wheelbase. Basic manual skills and careful work are sufficient for installation.

The electrical box is delivered without a battery and works with common 12V batteries, allowing you to choose the capacity yourself. A battery holder for the VW T5 and T6 is available separately in our shop.
